Costa Rica Super Special
Spotting birds, watching caymans and snakes, admire orchids. Hiking across hanging bridges or through the jungle, or close to one of the volcanoes. Rafting, horseback riding, bicycling, you will have the time to do it all during this trip. At the end a few days of relaxing on the beach, enjoy it! After this trip you can really say you have seen Costa Rica!
This is a 35 days round trip.
Day 1 - Dos Palmas Airport in Alajuela
After arriving at Juan Santamaría International Airport in Alajuela, close to the capital city San José, Peter or Flor from hotel Dos Palmas will pick you up. From there it is a 5 min. drive, after which you can relax and acclimatize to the tropical Costa Rica.

Day 2 / 3 - Mawamba Lodge in Tortuguero
Early in the morning you will be picked up for the trip to Tortuguero. The last part will be in a boat, gliding through the jungle. Here you will have a day and a half to see turtles, to spot birds and to make a boat trip. When you come back in Guapiles your rental car will be waiting and you will go to Heliconia Island.

Day 4 / 6 - Heliconia Island in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí
The trip takes you north-west, to Heliconia Island. It is in the name already, situated on an island in the middle of a beautiful botanical garden, where you can see many birds and monkeys. Here you can visit pineapple and banana plantations or take a look in biological center La Selva.

Day 7 / 9 - Tree House Lodge in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca
At the Caribbean coast you will spend the night in a tree house or one of the other special houses. Provided with all sorts of comfort of course, and a splendid view to the jungle. Relaxing, visiting Cahuita National Park or watching iguanas, everything is possible.

Day 10 / 12 - Guayabo Lodge in Turrialba
Today you will leave for Turrialba. Mountains and unspoilt nature surround beautiful Guayabo Lodge. From here you can take lovely walks. Visit one of the botanical gardens and the Guayabo Monument. At the Ortuño farm you will be shown how coffee, sugarcane and macadamia nuts are being produced in a traditional way. The daily fruit market in Cartago is also recommended.

Day 13 / 15 - Dantica Lodge in San Gerardo de Dota
Dantica Lodge is situated in the cloud forests of San Gerardo de Dota. From there you can visit the parks of Los Quetzales and Tapanti or make a (guided) hike through the 9 hectares of private natural area.

Day 16 / 18 - Hotel El Mono Feliz in Ojochal de Osa
In the south you will find the cozy cabañas of El Mono Feliz. Relaxing on the beach or take a boatttrip and spot whales and dolphins. Snorkeling equipment is ready for you! You can also choose a trip to beautiful tropical Corcovado National Park, or through the mangroves of the Sierpe river looking for crocodiles, caymans, sloths, monkeys and much more. And what about a visit to a real Indian village, or horseback riding?

Day 19 / 21 - Hotel Mar de Luz or Playa Bejuco (choice between the two) in and around Jacó
The trip brings you to Jacó. Relaxing at the beach or surfing.You can visit Manuel Antonio National Park, or take a trip in a boat on the crocodile river. In Carara Park you will find scarlet macaws.
> Mar de Luz is situated in the nice beach village of Jacó. It is a cozy family hotel with good facilities.
> If you go for more luxury you choose for Playa Bejuco. The chef will prepare the most wonderful meals for you. A quiet place on walking distance from the beach and only 25 minutes by car south of Jacó.
Day 12 / 24 - Aroma de Campo in Curubandé
In the very north you will find Aroma de Campo where you will stay in a colorful room. Rincón de la Vieja volcano is within reach. There is a possibility for several walks, alongside waterfalls, steaming mudpools and sulphur damps. The most spectacular hike takes you to the crater, this is a hike of about seven hours. On your way you will see different kinds of trees and orchids, maybe monkeys?

Day 25 / 27 - Monte Terras in Tronadora
In the province of Guanacaste you will spend the night in a cheerful cabina at Monte Terras. From here you can see Arenal volcano. In the evening you can sometimes see the lava rolling down. And of course you can take a walk on te foot of this volcano, you will even walk across the lavarocks that came down in 1992.

Day 28 / 30 - Fidelito Holiday Ranch in Tambor
On the Nicoya Peninsula you will find hacienda-style Fidelito Holiday Ranch. It is situated in the jungle-covered hills of Tambor. A guided tour on the Ranch is included. But you can also go horseback riding, bicycling or relax on the beach.

Day 31 / 33 - Beach Hotel Celaje in Cabuya
Somewhat more to the south you will reach Beach Hotel Celaje. Here you can enjoy the sun and the beach for a few days, and of course you can make several trips, e.g. to an uninhabited island. Beach Hotel Celaje is situated on the southernmost tip of Nicoya. Directly on the beach with a fantastic view to the ocean. You will sleep in a comfortable bungalow.

Day 34 - Dos Palmas in La Garita
The last day you will sleep in Dos Palmas again, but now in La Garita. Musing on your porch, and don’t forget to hand in your rental car on time.

Departure from San José, you will be taken to the airport.
